Ready for your Rainbow Badge? Join in our pilot partnership project with Breakout Youth
This is a very special year as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality. High profile heritage and arts projects are happening all over the country to show that museums are doing their bit to celebrate and tell diverse stories recognising LGBT heritage.
Would you like to do something to mark this milestone, too?
We have joint forces with Breakout Youth, a Hampshire based charity supporting young people who identify themselves as LGBT. Together we are launching a new project: our own Hampshire Solent Museum Rainbow Badge.
If you are interested in finding out what young people from the LGBT community think about your museum and to start a conversation about how they can help you in the future, please join in. Any Accredited (or WTA) museum in Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton or the Isle of Wight can take part. Just fill in the quick survey below to express your interest.
Deadline to express your interest is Friday, 29 September 2017!
Join us; and here is what will happen next:
- We will confirm the list of pilot museums by 10th October 2017.
- You will receive a mystery visit by a team from Breakout Youth sometime between October 2017 and January 2018. As part of that, they will discuss whether they feel your museum is welcoming, relevant, diverse and fun – based on a system they will develop themselves.
- They will share their feedback with you: what they liked, what they didn’t like, and their ideas about what you could do to make your museum more LGBT friendly, and whether they might be able to help you achieve it
- Join us at the Hampshire Solent Museum Forum on 1st Feb 2019 to receive your museum’s Rainbow Badge from Breakout Youth in recognition of your commitment and achievements in welcoming visitors from the LGBT community
